I love Sirius Black, and I'm still heart-broken by his death. He wasn't the best father figure in Harry's life, too reckless, but he gave Harry so many nuggets of wisdom. This is one of my favorites.
"We've all got both light and dark inside us. What matters is the part we choose to act on. That's who we really are."
--Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
I adore Sirius too...I will NEVER get over his death. I know he was reckless but he's the best parental figure poor Harry got and considering how reckless Harry can be, it sort of works for the best :) I ADORE that quote of his^^ ♥ I just started OotP yesterday and I can't wait to read this quote again now :D
ReplyDeleteSirius had some really enlightening moments and same great advice for Harry. While he sometimes encouraged Harry to be reckless as well, he really did have some words of wisdom.
ReplyDeleteI always feel sad thinking about Sirius's fate. His is an example of a life that could be so great but turned wasted instead. And then - when he finally had a second chance at family and happiness - he was taken away without getting to fully experience it... I also love how fiercely loyal Harry was to him and how he would do anything for him.
ReplyDeleteAhh, that is one of my favorite Sirius quotes, and I think one of the best bits of wisdom he ever imparted on Harry. Love Sirius so much, flaws and all.
ReplyDeleteI love Sirius! I think this bit of wisdom is especially relevant coming from him because he KNOWS it. I mean, he could have been into the Dark Arts like the rest of his family, but from the moments he's at Hogwarts you can tell he's going to be his own person. That he's going to choose light. I wonder if there was ever a point in his life where he felt insecure and wanted the acceptance of his family.
