Top Ten Tuesday: Resolutions for 2016

hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

1.  My biggest book resolution for 2016 is that 80% of the books I read this year will be from the books I own.  I have a large TBR pile and I'd like it to be significantly smaller.  This gives me a measurable goal without saying hey I've got to read 50 of the books on my shelf this year.  I know that's not really realistic because there will be books that I want to read that I don't own and that's just the way the world works.

2. I have a couple book challenges that I would like to finish.  This isn't hard and fast though.  The challenges I'm participating in are all about topic and genres so it'll be fun to read books for each category.  If I get to all of them that would be great, but I'm not going to stress out about it.

3. Last year, I made an effort to read more graphic novels.  I fell more in love with them.  This year I want to read so many more!  I read 11 last year, so my goal this year is to read more than that.  This should be a fun challenge.  I'm excited to discover more amazing graphic novels.

4. I've gotten better in the last year about commenting on other people's blogs, but I'd like to be much better at that.  I've enjoyed making friends this past year, and I'd like to make more.  I'm going to make an effort to comment on 5 new blogs a week.

5. I'm going to Europe in August and I've decided I want to go to some of the libraries that live there.  And don't worry I will be taking pictures and blogging/vlogging about it too!

6. This one is very important to me.  I am going to finish editing my book.  I've have one that I've been working on a little bit all last year, but I haven't made much progress in terms of actually rewriting it.  I have let my insecurities about my writing put this off for far too long, so this year it's going to happen.  I have someone who has agreed to look at my work every so often to help guide me and point out any glaring errors that need to be addressed during the rewrite.  So I have no excuses.  In fact, my accountability person is expecting at least 50 pages by February so I've got no time to waste.

  1. I hope you manage to read a good chunk of your TBR this year. I share the same resolution so good luck to us! I also want to read more graphic novels this year. I've been reading them for a few years now but it's only recently that I've really started reading them regularly. Good luck with all your resolutions and happy reading ^^
