Would you have joined Dumbledore's Army? Even with Umbridge breathing down your neck?

Alright, let me lay it out. I hate Umbridge so much, it wouldn't matter at all what she disapproved of or made "illegal". I would have joined Dumbledore's Army because she forbid it. And if I got caught, it would have been a great moment for me to give her the f-you she deserves.

Aside from that, I would absolutely have joined Dumbledore's Army. To be able to practice with friends in an encouraging environment, one that fosters progress and not humiliation is amazing. Just look at how much progress Neville made when he was in the DA. I would have thoroughly enjoyed that as well as the thrill of sneaking around and not getting caught.  That would have been a highlight.

Harry Potter Moment of the Week #98

Which cast member do you think was a perfect fit for their character?

First thought: Alan Rickman. Second thought: Maggie Smith. Third thought: Richard Harris

I couldn't come up with just one actor, so many of them were absolutely perfect fits for their characters. When I think about the characters, there's no one else I'd want to play them.

Alan Rickman was the perfect Severus Snape. I know he's technically supposed to be younger, but I don't care. I think he portrayed Snape beautifully, flaws and all.

Maggie Smith knocks Professor McGonnagall out of the park. She's equal parts sternness, sass, and affection. Maggie Smith embodies it all. I had a picture in my head when I read the books and it was very close to Maggie Smith's McGonnagall!

Richard Harris was the Dumbledore we didn't deserve, but the Dumbledore we needed. He was the calm and collected and a bit odd, just like his book counterpart. Michael Gambon was alright and he got better over the course of the films, but the infamous scene (you know the one) always makes me sad that Richard Harris passed away before completing his role in these films.

Harry Potter Moment of the Week #97

If you could change one thing from book 5, what would it be?

Okay there are so many things that I could change about this book that would make me less frustrated with it. Don't get me wrong I like this book and what it does for the character and plot development of the series (and Ron's quidditch playing.)

I think the thing that makes me the most angry would be the fact that Harry forgets about the mirror that Sirius gives him to communicate. This would have potentially solved so many problems. When Harry sees into the mind of Voldemort, he could have checked the mirror instead of using Umbridge's fireplace.  There is a chance that Kreacher would still answer the mirror instead of Sirius, but highly unlikely since it's in Sirius's bedroom. Everything at the ministry could have been avoided AND Sirius's death might not have needed to happen. Agh!

Which books would you recommend to Sirius?

I never pegged Sirius for a hardcore reader, but the right book I think that he'd really enjoy reading.

Trouble is a Friend of Mine by Stephanie Tromly - I think Sirius would get a kick out of Digby. He'd probably find Zoe annoying, but he'd laugh at Digby's antics. The mystery and the rest of the ragtag group of kids would be a major plus too.

Runaways by Brian K. Vaughan - I think Sirius would thoroughly enjoy this comic series. It's about kids who want to overthrow their evil parents, so you know Sirius would fit right in.

The False Prince by Jennifer A. Nielsen - This book and the rest of the trilogy would probably have given young Sirius a very good outlet. Sage is a clever, snarky, and pretty much everything Sirius strives to be. I think he would very much enjoy this story.
