Top Ten Tuesday: Books I Liked More/Less Than I Thought

hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

Books I Like More Than I Thought:

Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas - This series had so much hype, I was nervous that I wouldn't enjoy the book.  I was so so wrong. I recently finished the first book and I loved the characters and the story.  I can't wait to continue the series!

My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She's Sorry by Fredrik Backman - I read this as a book club pick, and I was intrigued by the premise, but I wasn't sure if it would be a good book.  I absolutely loved this story and the little girl that narrates it.

Everland by Wendy Spinale - I love a good retelling, but this Peter Pan retelling was beyond what I was expecting. It's a steampunk, post-pandemic London where Peter is still arrogant and cocky, and the world in which he lives is just as magical.

Meant To Be by Lauren Morrill - This book is a feel good, young adult romance.  Every once in a while you just need a good light read, nothing dense or dark. I thought I'd enjoy reading it, but I had no idea I'd love it. This book is on level with Stephanie Perkins books. When I finished it, I immediately looked up other books by Lauren Morrill. It's just that enjoyable.

Books I Like Less Than I Thought:

Armada by Ernest Cline - I absolutely loved Ready Player One and expected to thoroughly enjoy this book. Sadly, I didn't find it as entertaining and engaging.  I did enjoy listening to it, just not as much as I thought I would.

A Madness So Discreet by Mindy McGinnis - I heard a many good things about Mindy McGinnis and this book, so I was excited to read it.  Unfortunately, this book just wasn't my cup of tea.  I loved the historical aspect of this novel, though.

Landline by Rainbow Rowell - I loved Eleanor & Park and Fangirl, so naturally I wanted to read the rest of Rainbow Rowell's work. I picked this one up expecting one thing and got something very different.  I knew this wasn't a young adult book, but I was surprised by how meh I felt about it. I want to try reading Attachments, but after this book, it was put far back on my TBR.

  1. I tried reading Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell but I just couldn't get through it. And all of her books are so hyped up! And I absolutely adored Throne of Glass as well. It definitely lives up to the hype surrounding it! Thanks for sharing your TTT. You can check out mine here: http://bookladysreviews.blogspot.gr/2017/02/top-ten-books-i-thought-i-would-like.html

  3. I haven't read anything by Rainbow Rowell, but I am hoping to soon. I love feel good YA, so Mean to Be looks right up my alley. Great list! :)
